Understanding Signature Witnessing

While Acknowledgements and Jurats are the most common notarial acts, Florida notaries are also authorized to perform a 'Signature Witnessing.'

How it Works

In this scenario, the notary simply verifies your identity and physically watches you sign the document. Unlike an acknowledgement, you cannot sign the document in advance. Unlike a jurat, you do not have to swear a verbal oath.

Common Uses

Signature witnessing is frequently used for internal corporate documents, certain insurance forms, and specific banking authorizations where the receiving agency just wants proof that the authorized individual physically signed the paper.
